Artist Study: Vincent Van Gogh

We're doing Vincent Van Gogh this week.  I plan to give "art lesson" every week till the school starts to keep the little one busy as we decided not to let him join Summer Camp this year.

We have this wonderful book as our reference.

First project:  painting Sunflowers like Van Gogh

Learning how to use big brushes for backgrounds and we talked about the different "strokes" in painting.

Here as seen on the picture below, I let him talk about the colors Van Gogh used in his painting.

For painting objects, we used small brushes.

  1. I really like this idea. Art is not my thing, however I'm a big history person. I'm definitely pinning this for when we study this artist. Always in need of ideas. :)

Oh, and you're not alone in keeping kids out of camp this summer. I definitely don't regret my decision either!

    1. Thank you! Same here am not really good in art but a history person as well! Reason why I love to travel because I wanted to learn history of things. Anyway hope this post will inspire you. Oh yes, with summer camp... we'll pass this year. They're mixing the ages from 4-16 yrs old and I'm not into it.
